Kelaniya Vibhishana Temple

Kelaniya Temple a sacred place for Buddhists. It believes the temple to have hallowed during the third and final visit of the Lord Gautama Buddha to Sri Lanka eight years after gaining enlightenment. Kelaniya becomes a place where Lakshmana has coronated Vibhishana as the Sri Lankan ruler after the demise of king Ravana. The crowning of Vibhishana depicted through beautiful murals found outside the Buddhist temple. Sinhalese Buddhists believe and honor Vibhishana, considering him as one of the gods to protect the island

Diyatha Park

Diyatha park is a public Park located close to the Polduwa Junction. The park is widely known as an unwinding destination for locals. Strategically situated in the lush suburbs of Colombo, Diyatha Uyana is not just another public park, but an underrated yet wonderful place to visit where you can get some fresh air, clear your mind, or even go jogging along the sidewalk.

Diyawanna Lake and Diyasaru Wetland Park

Diyawanna Lake or Parliament Lake, is one of the lakes within Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, Sri Lanka. It is quite popular as the Sri Lankan Parliament Building was built on an artificial island at the center of the lake. The Diyatha Uyana park is also located on the banks of this lake. This lake was created in 1979 and has eight islands.
Thalawathugoda Biodiversity Study Park (now known as the Diyasaru Park) is a wetland artificially built near the new Parliament Complex in Sri Jayawardanapura in a marshland. Diyasaru Park covers approximately 60 acres with artificial ponds and canals where you could see over 50 varieties of migratory birds, over 15 fish varieties including three endemic to Sri Lanka, and over 25 butterfly species.

Independence Square

Independence square is a national monument in Sri Lanka built for commemoration of the independence of Sri Lanka from the British rule with the restoration of full governing responsibility to a Ceylonese-elected legislature on 4 February 1948. It is located in the Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo. It also houses the Independence Memorial Museum.

Galle Face Green

Galle Face is a 5 ha (12 acres) ocean-side urban park, which stretches for 500 m (1,600 ft) along the coast, in the heart of Colombo, the financial and business capital of Sri Lanka. The promenade was initially laid out in 1859 by Governor Sir Henry George Ward, although the original Galle Face Green extended over a much larger area than is seen today. The Galle Face Green was initially used for horse racing and as a golf course, but was also used for cricket, polo, football, tennis, and rugby. This is the place where ‘Aragalaya’ was held in2022

The Lotus Tower

Lotus Tower also referred to as Colombo Lotus Tower, is a 350 m (1,150 ft) tall tower, located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It has been called a symbolic landmark of Sri Lanka. It was first proposed to be built in the suburb of Peliyagoda but later the Government of Sri Lanka decided to change the location. The lotus-shaped tower is used for communication, observation and other leisure facilities. A cost USD $ 20 is charged per person when visiting this place.

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic- Kandy

The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic or Sri Dalada Maligawa, is a Buddhist temple in KandySri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. The relic was historically held by Sinhalese kings. The temple of the tooth is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple and the relic.

Seetha Amman Kovil- Seetha Eliya, Nuwara Eliya

There temple built on the sides of the stream where it believed that Seetha Devi bathed. And also that celebrates Lord Rama, Seetha Devi, Lakshmana, and Hanuman. This temple is known to remark the site of Ashoka Vatika, where Sita Devi stayed under King Ravana’s captive. The footprints in both large and small sizes found by the river said to be Hanuman’s, a fact making the site more interesting to investigate.

Gayathri Peetham- Nuwara Eliya

Gayathri Peetham said to the place where Ravana’s son Meghanath propitiated. Lord Shiva, with penance and, in turn, granted supernatural powers by the mighty god before the battle.

Ramboda Falls

Ramboda Falls is 109 m (358 ft) high and 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lankaand 729th highest waterfall in the world. It is situated in Pussellawa area, on the A5 highway at Ramboda Pass. It formed by Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya. The falls have an altitude 945 m (3,100 ft) above sea level.

Ravana Ella Falls- Ella

Ella is one of the best tourist destinations in Sri Lanka. Laid-back Ella draws travelers to Sri Lanka's highlands with its mountain forests, tea plantations, and relatively cool climate. The wildlife-rich region is also home to caves, cascades, and secluded temples—plus the Ella Gap, which offers lofty views between a cleft in two hills.Ella is another legendary area that boasts about two locations allied with the great epic Ramayana. First, there is the Ravana Ella Cave, which accompanies the massive Ella Falls, a breathtaking 1080 feet high waterfall that cascades into several falls. Ravana Ella Falls named after King Ravana and believed that Seetha bathed in a pool that gathered the water falling from this waterfall. King Ravana said to have lived in one of the caves above the waterfall. A nearby pool bored out of the rock by the gushing waters where Sita said to have bathed Ravana.

Divurumpola Temple- Nuwara Eliya

This place holds its importance as it remarks Sita Devi’s “Agni Pariksha” (a test). The locals live around this area worship the temple, and this place also called Divurumpola (place of oath) in Sinhala. As the myth says, the swearing of Sita Devi on this place has been legally accepted, followed by the unity of disputed parties.

Ravan Cave and tunnel Network- Ella

Ravana Cave & tunnels prove beyond doubt the architectural mastery of King Ravana. The tunnels served as a swift means of transport through the hills and also as secret passages. It believed that the tunnels networked all the important cities, airports, and dairy farms. A close look at the tunnels proves that they are man-made and not natural formations. Existing tunnel mouths situated Isthripur at Welimada. Ravana cave at Bandarawela, Senapitiya at Halagala, Ramboda, Labookelle, Wariyapola/Matale, and Sitakotuwa/Hasalaka and in many more places.

Chariot Path- Ramboda

Chariot path a plain area near an estate in pussellawa seen from the summit of a mountain range. The estate area is believed to be the place where Hanuman imprinted first foot on Sri Lanka. The mountain named to be Pawala Malai that stands along with the mountain range situated between Ashoka Vatika and King Ravana’s capital city. The deserted land and the route that extends onto the summit of the mountain range said to be the place where Ravana took Sitadevi from the capital city of Lankapura to Ashoka Vatika, a paradise on earth then. It is believed that King Ravana has made this passage with the intention of showing Sitadevi the beauty of his kingdom.

Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple- Ramboda

Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple, built in honor of Hanuman, who on the hills of Ramboda, was searching for Setadevi. Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka has built a temple dedicated to Hanuman, making him a sacred persona. Special poojas held for Hanuman on every full moon day by thousands of devotees.
