The Postgraduate Colloquium of the 16th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI) 2025 was successfully held on 22nd October 2025 at the Faculty Board Room of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya. Commencing at 5.00 PM, the event began with welcome remarks by the Conference Chair, Dr. Sugeeth Patabendige, followed by an address from the Chief Guest, Prof. Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Ravi Dissanayake, Editor-in-Chief of ICBI 2025, who offered valuable perspectives on the pathway of early-career researchers. He emphasized the need to cultivate a solid theoretical and methodological foundation, engage in rigorous and ethical scholarly inquiry, and contribute to knowledge through publication. He further highlighted the significance of sustaining constructive relationships with supervisors and mentors, recognizing these relationships as essential to scholarly growth and academic integrity.
The colloquium created a meaningful platform for Master’s, MPhil, PhD, and DBA researchers both local and international to present their work, receive critical feedback, and engage in constructive academic dialogue.
This event followed a preparatory workshop held on 05th August 2025, titled Crafting Research Brilliance: From Title to Extended Abstract,” conducted by Prof. Madurika Nanayakkara, which supported participants in refining their research submissions. Following a rigorous review process, selected abstracts were presented at the colloquium, and the top three submissions were granted the opportunity to publish full papers in the final ICBI 2025 conference proceedings.
The Postgraduate Colloquium thus served as a significant pre-conference forum, reinforcing ICBI 2025’s commitment to nurturing emerging scholarship and fostering a sustainable research culture within the academic community.
