3MT Competition 2025- The Preliminary Round Concludes with Exceptional Talent

The Preliminary Round of the Three Minute Thesis Competition, a key event of the 16th International Conference on Business and Information 2025, was held on 2 November 2025 at the Faculty Board Room of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya.

The competition brought together PhD, PhD by Publication, DBA, and MPhil scholars who accepted the challenge of presenting extensive years of research within a concise three-minute format supported by a single static slide. Fourteen contestants delivered thoughtful and engaging presentations that transformed complex academic work into clear and compelling narratives.

The event was evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges:

  • Dr Nilupama Wijewardena, Lecturer, Department of Management, RMIT University, Australia
  • Dr Kanchana Wijayawardena, Lecturer, University of Wollongong, Australia
  • Ms Nuwangi Pramuditha Cooray, PhD Candidate, Institute for Superconducting & Electronic Materials (AIIM), University of Wollongong, Australia

Following an impressive display of clarity and insight, five finalists were selected for the Grand Finale:

  • Mr B. D. A. R. Jayamanna
  • Ms M. N. S. Gunawardena
  • Ms Gunathma Gunawardena
  • Ms N. S. Sachee Sapumalee Senanayake
  • Ms G. W. Y. M. Gunasekara

The final round will be held on 25 November 2025 at Monarch Imperial, Colombo.

As one of the most anticipated events of ICBI 2025, the Three Minute Thesis Competition continues to highlight research excellence and the art of effective scholarly communication, encouraging emerging researchers to share their ideas with precision and confidence.
