Prof. N. M. Rabiul Awal Chowdhury is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Comilla University, Cumilla, Bangladesh, and holds a Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) and Master of Social Science (MSS) in Anthropology from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh. He has previously served as the Head of the Department of Anthropology and as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the same university, reflecting his extensive academic leadership experience and institutional contribution.
Alongside his academic career, he has been actively engaged in development research and consultancy work with several well-recognized national and international organizations. His professional experience includes contributions to ICDDR, B, PKSF, CIPRB, Plan International, and the BRAC Research and Evaluation Division, where he worked as a full-time professional and research expert.
Through these roles, he has been involved in diverse development initiatives, strengthening his applied research and field-based expertise. His research interests and methodological expertise primarily focus on qualitative and mixed-methods approaches. He has played a significant role in teaching, research, training, monitoring and evaluation, report writing, documentation, program design, planning, and management within development and academic settings.
Prof. Chowdhury’s core academic interests include health systems, non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, behavioral studies, person-to-person transmission dynamics, health communication, and mental health. He has authored several scientific articles published in reputable national and international journals, contributing meaningfully to research and scholarly discourse in his areas of expertise.
