Dr. Shubhanker Dey is a distinguished vocalist and musicologist, currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Musicology, Faculty of Performing Arts, Banaras Hindu University. Trained under the guidance of Pt. Devashish Dey, Dr. Dey has mastered a broad spectrum of Indian vocal music, specializing in Hindustani classical (Khayal), semi-classical genres such as Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti, Kajri, and Holi, as well as devotional and regional songs including Bhajans, patriotic compositions, and Bengali music.

A prolific performer and academic, Dr. Dey has earned numerous accolades throughout his career. He was awarded the Young Musicology Award by the Indian Musicological Society in 2019 and received a gold medal from Banaras Hindu University for achieving the highest marks in Musicology, an honor personally bestowed by the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. His list of achievements includes top positions in national and state-level music competitions, as well as prestigious scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), Government of India.

Dr. Dey holds an 'A' grade in Classical Vocal and a 'B-High' grade in Semi-Classical genres from All India Radio, and he has been an empanelled artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) since 2017. His academic journey includes a tenure as Assistant Professor at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University prior to joining BHU in 2024. He has contributed significantly to the field through research publications, editorial work, and national and international paper presentations. His editorial work includes Shilpayan Sangeet Lekh Sanchayan and authorship of Bhartiya Sangeet ki Vibhinna Taal Paddhatiyan.

As a performer, Dr. Dey has graced many prestigious platforms across India, such as the All India Music Conference (Kolkata), Thumri Mahotsav (Noida), Saptak Sangeet Sankalp (Ahmedabad), Ganga Mahotsav (Varanasi), and ICCR concerts nationwide. His ability to bridge tradition with innovation has earned him a reputable standing in both the academic and performance domains of Indian music.
