About University of Kelaniya
The University of Kelaniya (UoK) is situated in the city of Kelaniya, just outside the municipal limits of Colombo. Rooted in a rich history dating back to 1875, university's origin lies in the historic Vidyalankara Pirivena, established as a center of learning for Buddhist monks. Over the years, UoK has evolved into a leading institution of higher education, playing a crucial role in the national movement.
University vision is to become a center of excellence in the creation and dissemination of knowledge for sustainable development. Guided by this vision, university mission is to nurture intellectual citizens through creativity and innovation, empowering them to contribute significantly to national development.
It has seven (7) faculties, and fifty-five (55) departments that offer a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in fields such as Humanities, Medicine, Science, Social Sciences, Commerce & Management, and Computing & Technology.
