RCSoTL—Pre-Conference Workshop 3
“Innovative Teaching Pedagogies for Student Engagement in the Classroom”

The RCSoTL Pre-Conference Workshop 03, titled “Innovative Teaching Pedagogies for Student Engagement in the Classroom”, was held on 19th May 2025 at the Faculty Board Room, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya. The workshop was attended by nearly 25 young faculty members and aimed at enhancing teaching effectiveness through innovative strategies.

The resource person for the session was Prof. Wathsala Medawala from Department of Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy, Georgia College and State University, USA. She delivered a highly interactive and insightful session, covering a range of contemporary teaching methodologies including Backward Design, Transparency in Teaching and Learning (TILT), Flipped Classroom, Active Learning, and the integration of research into classroom teaching.

This workshop provided a valuable platform for educators to explore and adopt evidence-based pedagogical approaches that foster greater student engagement and improve learning outcomes..
